  1. no science has rules out that old wives's tale I go to the Ymca & i see the fitness coaches showing young teens & preteens how to strength train all the time.


  2. As long as you're careful and don't overdo it, you should be ok. It would be best to check with your doctor first before beginning something like that though, and make sure he/she has no concerns.

    No exercise or weight lifting ever stunts growth. Body growth or body height is determined by the levels of growth hormones. If the growth hormone levels are getting low then one will stop growing tall, bench press or no bench press.

    There have been body builders who started early and have been lifting weights since the age of 13-14 and most of them are of normal heights compared to the heights of other members in their families.
