  1. It depends on how it was manufactured.   On theory it would be carbon neutral.  The plant that s used to make the biofuel would absorb equivalent amount of CO2 that would be produced when it is burned.   That is not always the case.  Sometimes it can be destructive.  Growing Palm drains the land of water causing the bog to decay and generating even more methane and CO2.

  2. The short answer is "yes."  Burning a gallon of biodiesel releases about the same amount of CO2 as a gallon of regular diesel.  It is true that biodiesel is made from plants which took an equivalent amount of CO2 out of the atmosphere to make the oils.

The big question is how much energy does it take to grow, and harvest the plants, and how much energy does it take to extract the oil and refine it into useable fuel.  Then you can see what the real savings is.

  3. Yes, but not as much as fuel from the ground.  However, ethanol causes no net change in overall CO2 emissions, because it takes the equivalent of a gallon of ethanol in energy to make a gallon of ethanol.  Which means that every bit of the effort to make the stuff for fuel is a complete waste.

  4. yes, but..there is no such thing as global warming as thought of today..all the econuts and stuff. its a natural cycle in the earths life

  5. Combustion of anything containing carbon produces carbon dioxide. So burning of anything like petrol, diesel, kerosene, ethanol, wood, plastic, cloth, jute, and all hydrocarbons like coal, methane( for CNG) ,butane( for LPG) ,propane and pentane produce carbon dioxide and water. These gases trap the sun's heat in the earth's atmosphere and raise the temperature of the earth. Cleaner Fuels just produce less amount of these gases. Biodiesel is a mixture of ethanol and petrol(gasoline). So burning of that also produces these greenhouse gases.

  6. Yes, all combustion of hydrocarbons (Gas, Coal, Diesel, Biodiesel, Ethanol, Petroleum, Ketones, Aldehydes, Esters, Carboxylic Acids, Amines, Arenes, Alcohols, organic stuff) give you greenhouse gases (Primarily Carbon Dioxide, Water Vapor, Nitrous Oxide). Clean Gas is just cleaner because it does not release sulfur like coal does. Sulfur forms acid in atmosphere and sunlight. These alternative fuels warm the planet but warm slower and lesser compared to other traditional fuels like coal.

  7. All combustion fuels produce CO2 when burned.  Bio fuels are "Carbon Neutral" as they are extracted from plants.  While the plants grow, they convert atmospheric CO2 to carbon and oxygen.  Oil is then extracted from the plants and burnt, producing CO2.  This is a closed cycle, with no net increase in CO2 in the atmosphere.  Fossil fuels (petroleum, coal etc) are remenants of vegetation that has been locked in the ground for thousands or millions of years.  Burning them increases the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere.
