  1. I use Vetkem Acclaim spray for the home which can be bought form most vet surgeries, this continues working for 7 months to give continuous long term prevention from fleas breeding in the carpets, furniture etc. This is most effective with regular treatment of your cat with Frontline pipettes etc.

  2. yes, bleach works, also fly spray too,

as for the bomb, you know you can get it free from environmental health,

failing that i would ring around the vets, they will be able to help you

  3. Bleach will kill anything!

  4. With 30 years of owning and breeding cats and dogs, let me tell you what works best for me...

You need to fog the house with a fogger with these two key ingredients...Pyrithrens, a quick kill that leaves no trace.

Perethrins, a residual that will not let any remaining flea eggs hatch.

Both are natural ingredients that won't hurt pet or human...Please fog every year and you won't see the nasty little buggers come back.. :-)

  5. Whatever you do, dont use bleach ON your cat. It can burn their skin and give them bad irritations. It can be used to kill fleas, but remember that bleach makes everything white, so if your carpet is black... you get the picture.

I always use flea bombs. In Australia I use either Mortein or Raid branded ones. Just go to your local supermarket, they'll have it. They always work and they also kill the eggs. Just make sure you read the instructions first and turn off all smoke alarms. And never go into a room that is in the middle of bombing!!

  6. There is a spray product for effective removal of fleas from furniture and carpets called Acclaim, which you can buy from Pet retail outlets.  You spray the affected area in the room and vacate the area for about an hour.  Just follow the directions on the can.

  7. Boots do a very good flea spray but it's quite expensive (£12 a few years back).  Best thing is to keep hoovering the floors as that picks up the flea eggs and breaks the life cycle. If you have a cat it may be reinfesting your house.

  8. You must treat your cats every 2mths with drops on the back of the neck, and also contact your councile they will fumigate.then keep ontop of things by sprying with a GOOD vet recomended household spray.every year.(summer )

  9. I knew someone who had a problem with fleas. He went to the vets and bought a spray that he sprayed around the edges of each room one night and by he morning, the place was clear. It killed the fleas and the eggs. I think he had to do it again a week later just in case any had survived.

  10. Bleach will kill the eggs but not  the larvae and adults. I recommend get in touch with environmental health and they will spray your house for free. I had a similar problem a few years ago after I took in a kitten that was infested with fleas. I treated the kitten but the fleas had infested themselves into the carpets . I had to put the kitten and my other cats into a cattery while I got the house sprayed. after that I just used to get a flea spray from pets at home that is for the household and make sure the cats where flea free by using frontline on them. Also if you wash the cats bedding on a hot wash will kill the eggs and larvae as well.

  11. Bleaching a surface may kill eggs, but it wont get fleas. You need a proper spray from a pet shop. They can be hard to get rid of, so also comb your animals.

  12. Killing fleas will depend on why you have them...if you have pets you need to take care of their flea problem first otherwise it will do you no good to use a flea bomb ( and yes they do work for awhile ). I have 6 cats and no fleas I use an over the counter flea drop that protects them for a month at a time (works for dogs too). If you dont have pets before you use a bomb try sprinkling some borax on your floors and leaving it overnight then vacuum ( I have a friend that does this and she has fleas but no animals, and this works). If you use a flea bomb be sure afterward to wash anything that you might use to eat or drink from that has come in contact with the vapors, you should also wipe everything down well so that the chemicals dont hurt anything. By the way if you have pets makes sure the drops you get kill not just ticks and fleas but make sure the product also kills their eggs as well. slparrott2000@yahoo

  13. If you contact the environmental health they will come out (free of charge) and fumigate the whole house. If you have animals it would be wise to de-flea them. You will have to be out of the house for about an hour while they do it. I have had it done twice.
