Does botox on the forehead reduce the effect of acupuncture?

I have been making use of the low cost of procedures in a foreign country. I got botox on my forehead. I am thinking of getting acupuncture just for the "feel good" effect. My question is, will the botox on my forehead minimize the effect of the acupuncture?

  1. Botox actually works by paralyzing the muscles with a small amount of botulism, a toxin produced by a bacteria that lives in the soil (Clostridium botulinum)

Acupuncture pseudo "works" by activating the placebo response.  It has not been shown to have any other effects, or mechanism of action..

There is no such thing as qi energy, meridians or chakra points, that is Asian mystical nonsense from a prescientific era.  The various energy healing cults will give thumbs down for saying that, but their philosophy is faith-based, not evidence based.

The vast majority of "alternative healing" philosophies are a de facto religious belief.

  2. Botox can potentially have a negative effect on the outcome of acupuncture treatment.  There is a similar negative effect with acupuncture therapy shortly after cortisone injections have been administered.

Additionally, acupuncture at the site of a "botox'd" areas can undo the intended effect of the botox.

  3. It should not matter. The botox works on the muscles while the accupuncture works on the energy meridians, they should not counteract eachother but you may make a call to your accupuncturist and ask just to make sure.

  4. It might but even worse it could give you brain damage. I'm not kidding. Take a look at the link below.
