  1. Is the pope a catholic? Yes, of course! You'll never get anywhere in boxing without discipline. Your first and mightiest opponent was is and always will be you yourself. You need discipline to train, to eat the right things, to get all your other stuff done and also to sometimes to abstain from other activities.

Also in the ring you need discipline to obey all rules and commands of the referee.

Without discipline you can't be a boxer (at least not a good one)

  2. i have played basketball, soccer, baseball, and tennis, and messed around with a few different martial arts.and was pretty good at most of them. (made all star teams, traveling teams etc.)

Boxing is by far the hardest sport i have participated in. There is no other sport that demands the dedicated that boxing does. Discipline in boxing is probably one of the hardest things to acquire. For example when you get hit you either wanna charge in and get one back or you get scared and over react to the punch. The Discipline to keep cool under those conditions takes a lot of time. Ive have seen many fighters that could of been great not live to their expectation because they didnt have the discipline to keep cool.

Unlike other sports, theres no time out, theres no substitutions, and if your losing your getting punched. Most people have no clue how hard a 3 minute round actually is.

  3. Yes it is a sport of pain. it hurts when you are losing, and it still hurts even when you are winning. And training hurts a lot too. No way anyone puts up with all that if they are not disciplined :)

Lester Ellis says the 4 D's - Discipline, Determination, Dedication, and some other one :) But yes. You need to be disciplined in lots of ways, not just throwing punches, not going out and drinking etc.
