  1. Horse racing - Jockeys have the highest death rate!

  2. Football. Something like three or four players died after collapsing on the pitch in 2007.

  3. Actually, one of the lowest. Take a look.

    Fatality rates per 100,000 participants

       1. Horse racing: 128

       2. Sky diving: 123

       3. Hang gliding: 56

       4. Mountaineering: 51

       5. Scuba diving: 11

       6. Motorcycle racing: 7

       7. College football: 3

       8. Professional boxing: 1.3

Yet, most boxers suffer from chronic brain damage which does not always lead to death.

  4. actually English football (aka soccer) does

i remember seeing a program on it and i think horse racing was second

  5. Rugby has the highest level of serious and career threatening injuries. Mainly back, neck and shoulder injuries, but also to the head, stomach and legs.

Other sports that have high casualty rates are Horse Riding type events and Motor Sports.

Boxing comes well below all these, and yet no one calls for Rugby, Horse Sports and Motor Sport to be banned, what hypocrisy!

  6. As long as you bend your knees when you lift the boxes, there should be little risk of casualty.

  7. for combat sports(MMA,kickboxing, etc) yes. The problem is Boxing does not cause the DEATH of the fighter, Having inadequate medical regulations and guidlines cause the death of most fighters. with each state and country having guidlines, it is easy for a fighter who is not fit to box to slip past doctors and medical evaluations by trying different sanctioning bodies and commisions until some place says yes. Look at holyfield. he was suspending a couple of years ago for medical reasons by a commision. he past some medical tests and boom he is now fit to fight. if he should die in his next fight, people will blame the sport and not the commisions or sanctioning bodies.

  8. No. Wrestling does.

Even though people batter each other, it has actually one of the lowest death rates in sports

  9. Are you kidding, have you watched cage fighting in America or professional ice hockey games. They are both lethal.

  10. no boxing doesnt u may be suprised 2 know there have been more deaths on a football pitch in the last year than there has been in a boxing ring

  11. Highest casualty rate compared to what? Compared to other sports ? No i wouldnt have thought so.I would have thought rugby would have more casualty's even football. Its not that often a boxing match ends in a knock out but there has been deaths in the ring and serious injury but there has also been deaths in football. The one sport people might think has the most casualty's is ultimate fighting but i think in the whole history of the sport there has only been one death and not many serious injurys.

  12. no were near. u have horse raceing more deaths recorded then boxing then u have moter raceing plus the martial arts .

  13. Less dangerous than offshore fishing and many other pursuits. The art is to not get hit too much because it is cruel if you're losing - repeated blows to the head are not a good idea.

  14. There have been alot of deaths due to boxing but no I don't think it has the highest rate.    Check out this site.
