most middle schools start at 6th, and go till 8th.

Jr highs start at 7th, and go till 9th.

My town has a Jr high. But i believe the school you are talking about is a middle school, and starts at grade 6.

That's the one in Illinois. The one in Ohio starts at 7th. So, it depends where you live, which one pertains to you. Hope this helped!
