I'm not really in the market for a car yet, but maybe in a few years when I get out of college I would be. But I'm just curious, if I would buy a used car, say two years old, would my purchase in any way or form help the american worker (if I buy an American car, that is)?

  1. Buying used does nothing to help the factory worker who built the car when it was new.  You will help the dealer, so you may wish to choose that person carefully.  Also, let me just caution you one bit.  If you buy a new car and want to help an American factory worker, do some research on which cars are actually built in the U.S.  It will surprise you!  Most Fords, Chevy's and Chrysler vehicles are NOT assembled in the United States anymore thanks to Billy Bob Clinton and NAFTA/GATT.

  2. Only if you need American made parts or use American service technicians.  After is sold to the second owner...only the seller benefits.  Lease new if you can.
