Does cable internet plug into your phone line?

I'd like to know if when using a cable modem through a cable service do you have to plug it into the phone line like you do with DSL or dial up? The reason I need to know is because there is something wrong with my phone line where I keep loosing sync with my DSL service.

Will my phone line be a problem if I switch to cable internet?

Thank you

  1. no...the cable ISP usually give you a free Motorola modem, and you just plug your computer into via a RJ-45 plug...!

  2. No, they do not share common cables.

I have been using Cable Internet for over a year now and it works great.  It is totally separate from PSTN telephone lines.

However, in my case, I pulled the plug on my Telco and only use VoIP for my phone service.  My VoIP runs over my Cable Internet connection.  So, in my case I do share common lines between my VoIP service and my Cable Interenet service.  But, that's another story for another day...

  3. they come and plug phone into cable

  4. no, cable internet has a seperate plug that is installed by the isp

  5. no

  6. some computer has two connection  regular phone line or cable, the line similar to phone line but connected to a cable Special box.

Those day: using( DSL) high speed  PHONE LINE  is more advantage because it separate the voice and data feeds at the telephone office, eliminating the need for Special Installation. NOW new high tech. used (SHDSL) both cable and phone used it.

for what i know cable can be used on both way phone and computer cable company had there Special Box. it connect all of there customer.

using there (SHDSL) cable, it save tons of money the advantage cable  You can use your phone and computer on the same time. But

another company used regular phone line but offer high speed internet (DSL)

you pay cable $ separate and you pay phone $ separate is that common sense.

  7. No. Only dialup internet requires a phone line. Cable internet uses coaxial and Ethernet (RJ45) cables.
