Perhaps.  They would do more work and stimulate the economy, but a certain percentage of them will become a burden to society as well.  So it's hard to say.  In the short run it probably wouldn't have any effect.

Well, California is already going broke because of illegal immigrants. Adding more illegal immigrants would not be good.
