Does camphor get rid of fleas on dogs?

my mom said that camphor gets rid of fleas on dogs when used in the same fashion as flea treatment drops. she also said that cotton balls soaked in peppermint and placed around the home gets rid of roaches, mice and other pests.

  1. None of this is true. The best way to get rid of a dog or cat's fleas is a liquid flea treatment applied on the top of the neck slightly below the point of where the ears are, I would recommend Frontline flea treatment. Although, the fleas do not die until they actually bite the animal. The amount of time it could take for the fleas to die is about 3-4 weeks or more depending on if the dog is an indoor or outdoor dog and if they live with other dog.


  2. All untrue, and camphor can burn your dog's skin pretty badly, don't do that.

    Fleas are prevented by putting a topical liquid - a good one - like Frontline Plus or Advantix on your dog every single month - nothing else works like that, nothing.

    As to the other pests, you need an exterminator, not peppermint.
