  1. Carbon is an element and does not have genetic material (DNA).

  2. Elements do not have dna only living things have dna(or rna in some cases)

But ya carbon do have its unique electronic configuration and most important its catenation property

  3. No.

Carbon is an element. DNA is a large combination of atoms.

  4. Nope.  You have your scale reversed.  Saying that carbon has DNA is like saying that deli-sliced ham is made out of sandwiches.

Carbon is an element (a type of atom), though, when people say "carbon" in the sense of "carbon emissions" they're really talking about carbon-containing molecules, like carbon dioxide, or methane.

DNA is a huge molecule, which is composed millions of atoms, many of which are carbon.  In fact, almost all of the molecules in your body (that aren't water) are based around carbon (along with hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen, and a few others).  Sugars are ring-shaped molecules made up of carbon.  Diamonds and graphite are made up entirely of carbon atoms too, but a slight difference in the way the atoms are arranged makes the difference between expensive gemstone and cheap pencil-lead.

Carbon is an essential element to life, which is why, in chemistry, the word "organic" refers to any molecule that's based on carbon.  At the same time, whenever something organic is burned (like wood, coal, or oil), carbon dioxide is released, contributing to global warming and severe climate problems down the road.
