I got caught in Mar 2006 for shoplifting at big w (stupid mistake and honestly have not done since). They made me sign something saying i would never go into a woolworths store (major grocery chain) or any of its other stores for the rest of my life. Does this really have effect for ever? obviously i don't go to the one where i got caught but i do go to them in other suburbs.. (Not stealing).

Before anyone says it I know stealing is wrong.

  1. yes i think your banned but how they will enforce that i dont no

  2. If you're working minimum wage at a soul destroying job behind the counter at bigW would YOU bother refusing to serve someone or getting security or calling the manager? I think you'll be fine man. How would they know anyway, I guarantee they don't distribute several year old photographs of shoplifters across their chains. It's a hollow threat no problems.

  3. This happened to my friend in Morrison's lol

she goes in there now, because they have forgot her face but if you get caught in there and they know you signed that agreement you could be sent to court and/or prosecuted.

  4. my friend has the same thing but for target

its been 2 months and shes started going back to other stores

i think realistically its ok, just dont do anything to get yourself noticed!

  5. nope

  6. They cannot charge you with anything , they will just kick you out .

It is indeed just a tool they use in case your busted again. "Judge , we told him to never come back."

And , to keep them from hiring you in the future.

Bottom line , if you aren't stealing they really have no charge against you , and if they try trespassing it will probably get thrown out or dropped.

Just act like you forgot because you found jesus and turned your life around.

But they probably won't call you on it.

  7. The trespass notice that you signed is legally binding.  If you are caught in another of their stores, they can have you arrested for trespassing. That would mean Court, fines, and a criminal record.

Since it's been so long, the Statute of Limitations is probably up so they won't be able to have you arrested on the original theft charge.

Reality is that they probably won't notice if you go into one of their stores.  However, do you really want to take that chance?  What if the manger or clerk at the original store just happens to be in the different store, maybe because of a job transfer or simply doing their own shopping.  They might see you, and report your presence.

You signed the legally binding document, and you committed the original offense.  You need to do the right thing and honor that legally binding document so that you don't get into further trouble.

  8. chain wide ban means exactly as it sounds and you my pal signed a statement that you will comply with that. I wouldn't chance it. remember it is your freedom, not the guy on yahoo answers who will say not to worry they forgot about it, go ahead. It's all up to you and how much you value your freedom.

  9. I seriously doubt the ban is enforceable. I think it is more like a prosecution weapon if you get caught stealing again.
