Does channel 7 showing Hooker's pole vault 100 times today make up for not showing it live last night?

Hooker won Australia's first male athletic gold for 40 years.

AND anyone know if the medal ceremony has happened yet...still have not seen it?

  1. Really?  Hooker won the gold medal?  Thanks for sharing that bit of information because channel 7 didn't make that clear enough for the rest of us.

  2. I saw him win the gold last night on Channel 7.

I don't know if it was live but it was quite late, possibly about 1am or so.

I didn't look at the clock.

I don't know when the medal ceremony was or will be.

Edit: Just saw this on Channel 7.

Steve Hooker was saying qualifying started at midnight their time, so what's that, 2am our time. (It was later than I thought when I was watching it.)

His medal presentation will be at 7.15pm their time 9.15pm tonight our time.

That's because of the late hour last night and lack of crowd to cheer etc.

  3. It was shown last night, I stayed up and watched it.  Probably not live but then what have Channel 7 shown live??  I believe the ceremony will be in tonight's athletics session.  That's what they have been doing, presenting them the following night.

  4. no it does not... footy in some states, but even the others not subject to the footy still didn't get  live coverage... but we will now be subjected to endless repeats while other athletes are competing zilching their live coverage.. channel 7 doesn't know the meaning of respect...

  5. Not sure when the medal ceremony was didn't it happened last night.  Channel 7 mustn’t want you to see it.  We are only getting to see what they want us to see that is for sure.  Minus 100 for Channel 7

I think Channel 7 should be ashamed of themselves, they kept showing repeats of stuff last night when they could have been showing the pole vault LIVE, heard it on ABC radio last night their call was great!

  6. What is channel 7? It's different everywhere in the world.

  7. I did see it very late last night, but it was seriously delayed as I was listening to ABC radio.  You could see the pole vault on in the background as 7 showed the running. 7 butchered the coverage of the vault, as one would expect. They showed edited snippets of the event, and when they realised he was going to win gold they panicked and put together an edited version of him winning. It was far from live and did not do it justice.

    So what happenes today?

They repeat it 10 million times today, to make up for the fact that they stuffed up again.

I laughed last night when the commentator made reference to his parents watching it at home, because they would have had next to no chance of viewing their son's gold medal event properly.

    The medal ceremony is tonight.

It was shameful because it was a momentous event in Australian sport history.
