Question:

Does chlorine affect red dyed hair?

My hair is usually dyed a kind of burgundy. We are going on vacation in two weeks and I am trying to figure out whether to dye it before or after vacation. We'll be at a resort with lots of pools (chlorine) and the ocean (salt water). I've heard that chlorine turns blond dyed hair green, but does it affect red hair at all? Is it better to wait until after the vacation to dye my hair again?

  1. If you going to swim every day then you will need to colour your hair before and after holiday

  2. I have naturally blonde hair and, yes, it turns a bit green after awhile.

Natural red hair sometimes changes color in a pool... I don't know about dyed, though.

I think it'd be best to play it safe and dye your hair after the vacation. I'd hate for you to come out of the pool with bright orange hair or something!
