I'm a swimmer.

I do lessons a lot, I'm always in the water.

Does chlorine damage your hair?

Is there a shampoo after you get out of the water to get rid of the chlorine?

But will it strip the color out of your hair?

I died my hair a dark brown and my natural color is dirty blond.

But i would like to keep my dark brown and sometimes chlorine turns your died hair green, is there way to prevent all that?

A shampoo that will get rid of the chlorine but won't strip the dye out of your hair?

  2. Yes....the swim cap can be your first line of defense and help a lot.  Try and use one.

"The structure of your hair is vulnerable to drying agents, including the chlorine in swimming pools. The cortex, or inner layer, of hair is protected by the cuticle, or outer later. Sebum is a natural lubricant that protects the cuticle. The chlorine in pools sucks the sebum out of your hair, which may cause the cuticle to crack. This damage causes your hair's natural sheen to diminish, and the unprotected cortex to "split" (split ends)."

"Chlorine is a strong oxidizing agent which draws moisture from your hair, making it dry and brittle,"

"Swimmers with both colored hair and natural hair can also experience a change in hair color, with lighter shades turning green and browner shades taking on a copper tint."

"The best way to protect your hair from all the chemicals in the pool is to wet and condition it prior to swimming with non-chlorinated water."

"After swimming, you should cleanse your hair with a shampoo specially formulated for "swimmer's hair" and deep condition it to replace moisture lost from the chlorine. Also, limit blow drying usage. If you don't have shampoo and conditioner with you, rinse your hair with non-chlorinated water."
