Question:

Does chocolate brown fabric go with maple wood furniture?

Unfortunately I am a college student and I don't have money for a couch. So I am using a really nice futon that is made out of real maple wood, but I wanted to go with a chocolate brown cover for it. However, I am not sure if the maple wood and chocolate fabric will go well together. I wonder if I should use a light tan/oatmeal color instead? Please help!

  1. You will need accents with colours depending on your personal colour choices - do you want to stick with other earth tones and how adventurous would you feel with off-shades?  Pale orange or greens or prints with earth tones and dark greens or royal blue/purple  would work well as accent pieces, like pillows, sofa throws, table covers, etc.    Incorporate things of nature in your decor - Bull rushes, sage, some sort of tall dried arrangement....

Flea Markets, yard sales and thrift stores are good places to get inspiration...

Borrow books from the library, find what colours resonate with you and take off....you are only as limited as your imagination....Have fun - it is so cool making your own statement

  2. Tan or Oatmeal would look better, the dark brown may clash with the subtle red tones of the Maple. Tans a more neutral.
