Does cleaning with rubbing alcohol help?

Question

Like on phones or a computer mouse. Does it sanitize things? Like get germs and dirty stuff off? or could it be too strong making it harmful?

I read on the back of hand sanitizers that a lot of it is made up of alcohol? Is it the same kind or do they use a different kind?

I am an alcohol freak.  I keep a bottle of rubbing alcohol in my desk drawer all the time.  Great on phones and keyboards.  I use it at home all the time to wipe down the kitchen counters, clean surfaces and kitchen appliances.  Do be careful though if you're wiping something that has lettering, in case it removes it.  Always try wiping an area that doesn't show first to make sure it doesn't go dull.

I also have a packet of alcohol wipes in the office bathroom for the toiler seat.

I use clorox wipes on mine it cleans and disinfects at the same time

Rubbing alcohol can be applied as a cooling, soothing application for bedridden patients and athletes. It helps soothe deep down cold bones (e.g., shins) if rubbed into skin during winter seasons. It is also widely used for cleansing surgeons' hands and instruments and for the disinfection of skin prior to penetration by a hypodermic needle. As an antiseptic it is good against vegetative bacteria and fair against fungi and viruses, but is ineffective against spores. It is widely believed that 70% ethanol provides the greatest reduction in bacterial count; however, this is incorrect. Other concentrations may be more effective, but their rate of kill is slower. In order to reduce the skin bacterial count to 5% of normal, 70% ethanol must be left on the skin for at least 2 minutes,In other words it works however its not the best cleaner in the world.I use it and i like it however i also know the limits of it.Hope this helps ya.Ps hand sanitizers are usualy 94% plus were as rubbing is much much less at about 70.Be aware the fact that it ruins pretty quick loosing its cleaning properties.If you choose to use it buy from a store that sells it fast keeping stock fresh.,And replace your bottle every couple months.
