  1. the caffeine in coffee increases your metabolism. As does adding chillies to your grub.

We have chubby clients who get up at 6am, neck a black coffee and then have a 45min low intensity cardio session.... at 50%-70% of their max heart rate.

It really does help with fat loss if used continously - but dont think that drinking coffee on its own is gonna loose some chub.

  2. There's a lot of opposing claims regarding the role of cafeine in burning calories. But there have been researches which show that cafeine (which belongs to the 'negative calorie foods- believed to make the body use up more calories in the process of digesting them than the foods themselves actually contain) contain a surplus of natural enzymes which may directly effect energy expenditure and body fat storage. Since I am not a regular coffeee drinker so this has worked for me. I drink strong coffee without sugar before I go to the gym or do my walking. But if you're a regular coffee drinker it might have a different effect on you.

  3. probably, but the number of calories burned is probably so insignificant to anyone that it doesn't matter. This is just my opinion.  Physical activity CAN make a significant difference, but coffee will just keep you awake.

  4. I think it is an urban myth.

Coffee has caffeine which is s stimulant but that does not necessarily mean you will burn more calories. Otherwise coffee won't do anything for calorie burning or weight loss.

If you want something that will help try green tea instead. Besides the caffeine in it green tea actually does help increase your motabolism and burn calories. It also has a safer level of caffeine for us. It has only 30mg as opposed to 80mg in coffee.

Caffeine dehydrates and when dehydrated we become tired. So the less caffeine we take the better. Plus if we drink a glass of water with a caffeinated beverage then it offsets the dehydrating effect of the caffeine and we won't get tired. Plus water also increases our energy and motabolism by 3%

  5. Caffeine speeds up the metabolism, and studies have shown that the body temperature rises slightly after drinking coffee. At the same time, caffeine and coffee contain no calories.

This does have an effect on the body weight, but not a big one. If you drink about four cups of unsweetened coffee a day every day, and change nothing else about your diet, you can expect to lose about five to eight pounds in a year due to the caffeine alone. As a weightloss method, this is of course very inefficient.

The way to use coffee (or even better, tea, which is healthier) to lose weight is to drink those beverages instead of sodas or other artificially sweetened drinks. If you switch your soda for coffee or tea, you may lose much more than eight pounds a year.

  6. coffee makes you GAIN wait NOT LOOSE it

  7. This has been studied and there is still no conclusive proof.
