  1. Probably not.  Most internet based phones running on cable TV lines are simply connected to the wire the connects to your phone company (outside) box. They disconnect or you disconnect from this point and then hook up that line to the box they provide the connects to your cable line.

    Cable <--> Their box <===Connect here====> Phones


  2. They cut your line in from the street, but the lines in the walls stay there.

  3. No.  They tie into the existing lines, or if they are bad, they will run new lines.  They don't remove any existing ones.
