Does confusing a pokemon make it easier to catch?

I'm chaining houndoom so I can get a shiny one and I have to use loudred so it can't use roar to end the battle. But the only status-changing move that is has is supersonic. And I can't risk it using roar on any other of my party.

What version of pokemon are you playing? In my version, confusing it helps a lot, but you run the risk of it hurting itself too much and fainting.

yes it does make it easier to catch and say got you it helps catch it
