Does convertible cars have roof leak problems in the long term ?

  1. yep sooner or later they all leak....


  2. Yes, they can have roof leak problems.  Especially where the roof meets the windshield.

It depends on if you take care of them or not.  The older models with the cheaper tops I would say most probably but the newer 2001 and up higher quality tops such as the Mits Eclipse spyder, Nissan 350Z, Honda S2000 rarely if ever leak.  Things to avoid are automatic car washes with high pressure.  This will wear out the seal between the top and the windows and also if they are left out in extremely cold weather and have weight put upon them such as several inches of snow this will eventually take its toll as well.  I've already heard of the Solstice/Sky roofs leaking, but in my opinion if you look at how the top sets it doesn't even look like a good fit???  The newer MX 5 also has a good reliable conv. top.
