Does costa rica have the same electric outlets as houston?

    The normal outlet is two-pronged, and is just like a two-pronged outlet in the states. The voltage, etc. is the same.

    And when there are three-pronged outlets, they accept three-pronged plugs, just like the states.

    However, many of these are not grounded. Also, many are wired backwards.  You can get a small plug-in checker for the outlets, that will tell you if it is wired correctly. Note that just because one outlet is right, this doesn't guarantee that all the others in the house/office are.
