  1. when using cruise on the highway, I get 3-5 mpg more

  2. At 60mph,  on the flat highway,  you save gas.

At high mph,  on the slope highway,  you wouldn't save.

  3. short and simple yes it keeps RPM's at a consistant rate say your doing 60mph and you RPM's read 3,600 it stays there vs. you pushing the pedal and varying slightly between 3,100 or 4,000.

  4. Yes it does. Cruise keeps the car at a constant speed therefore reducing fuel consumption. So if the revs stay at 2500 rpm for your entire trip, you'll see drastic improvements in fuel economy. The same could be done without cruise control, but having Cruise makes it so much easier...

  5. yes. it keeps the car at the same speed thus reducing fuel consumption.

  6. It depends.

Are you using cruise control to go 60mph, or to go 100mph?

If you set the engine to be running hard, it will keep running hard, and thus, will not save gas.

if you set it to stay at a reasonable speed, like 55, then it will maintain that, and will help just a little.

But it's so little, that it's barely worth mentioning.

  7. Only if you are traveling long distances. Normally, you tend to speed up and slow down, speed up -- slow down. Because of this, you expend more fuel. With cruise control, your car knows the exact amount of gas to let through, therefore keeping a constant speed, and using only enough fuel to get by.
