  1. I have been taking Hydrocone since 1998 when I first had a knee injury, then a few months later I had foot surgery, and have been on it continuously for the last 10 years. I had a on the job back injury in Sept. 1999, and by 2004 I was taking up to 10 Norcos, 10/750's a day with no pain releif for my back and I have been on Methadone ever since.I am now waiting for a back surgery as I can not stay on Methadone the rest of my life, it has terrible withdrawls too.

I personally have never crushed Vicodin and gotten a " rush" and I barely feel anything anymore, but it is all I have for Breakthough pain. I know people who swear by it saying it gives them a Rush, or they get buzzed, but all I ever got was pain releif and that was in the first three or four years, The longer you use it, you are lucky if it kills the pain as your pain tolerance goes up. I have broken them in half to take a different dose, and nothing Buzzed happend.

I do know someone who broke their Vicodins up and chewed them, because he said he got a more immediate reaction. NOt a rush, but the Vicodin worked quicker. The explanation would be that instead of swallowing it and having it disperse slowly over say three of four hours,by chewing it is gets immediatily into your blood system and if you get High, or a rush, then this is when it would happen.

I do know that Vicodin tastes nasty, it is like chewing aspirn, anything very bitter. Of course, anybody is going to tell you not to do it, and if you are looking for a high, than Vicodin is playing Russian Rulette. There are more people who go into treatment for prescription drugs, including Vicodin, among others than evre before. If you watch the t.v. Show Intervention, they will show many people hooked on pain killers, including Hydrocodone, who are not taking them the way prescribed, and now ending up in rehab centers because they started out wanting pain releif, or a way to get a buzz, and now they are addicted.

besides, crushing pills can be deadly, and cause  serious side effects including death. One thing is that you are getting a larger dose in a short time that was meant to be over a longer ( hours) period of time. Look up on the internet and any pharmeceutical company will tell you the same thing. Don't risk your health or life for a short but possibly deadly buzz. If you are old enough, buy a beer or have a drink if you want that buzz. At least it is legal.

Hope you use your common sense. Pills are great when used for what they are intended for, Pain.                    Fluffypurrcat

  2. Well i usually break them in half to stop the time release...................

  3. Not likely. However, it is different when it comes MS Contin or OxyContin. It sounds like you might need to see doctor who specializes in addictions. It sounds to me that you really need to seek help. There is no shame in being an addict. It is a disease and it can be treated. There are several excellent treatment centers and in March (2008), the bill H. R. 1424 - Paul Wellstone Mental Health and Addiction Equity Act of 2007 was passed. This bill is for people who suffer from additions, eating disorders, and other mental health problems. I, myself, suffer from Chronic Pain and I have never crushed up my medications. Besides, people who are Chronic Pain patients very rarely become addicted to their narcotic pain medications. I advocate for people who suffer with chronic pain disease (CIP or IP), Eating Disorders, Endometriosis, etc. If you are an addict and you do suffer from chronic pain syndrome/disease and if you find that non-narcotic medications do not help you can still take narcotics, but you will be more closely observed by your doctor(s).  Please speak with your doctor about this. If you do feel ashamed or guilty my advise is to print out the question that you have Posted here on Yahoo! Answers and either give it to your doctor during an appointment or send it to him/her. Again, do not feel guilty or ashamed. There is help and hope. I wish you a lot of luck.

  4. Yes, if you crush these medications, you will get all of the medication faster than if you swallowed as intended.

The issue in gettin all of this narcotic medication at once is respiratory depression.  What that means is, your breathing slows and, should you fall asleep, you could die.

    Happy crushing!

  5. Yes, but should you be taking hydrocodone to get a "RUSH"? No.
