Does .cso's on cfw red slim psp lag?

Like I have gta lcs (303mb size) in .cso format and put it on 333mhz and it still lags badly. I have 4.02 m33-2

i haven't actually got my psp upgraded yet, but from what i hear the lagging sometime is connected to the memory stick. they say 4gb memory sticks are the best for loading on.
