  1. My Dr. said that taking one child's Bayer aspirin a day will help thin your blood and can aid in avoiding heart attacks by lowering the blood pressure.

    Then he read me the riot act on getting more exercise.


  2. Aspirin has zero effect on blood pressure-- that's why it's taken in conjunction with blood pressure lowering medications.

    Aspirin works as an anticoagulant and prevents the formation of blood clots which can travel into the coronary and cerebral arteries, as well as the lungs. Such clots cause heart attacks, strokes, and pulmonary emboli.

Daily aspirin use is recommended to help prevent clotting of the blood.  With the blood thinner it is better able to flow through the arteries and is less likely to lead to either heart attack or brain attack (stroke).  its use is not related to blood pressure directly.  Indirectly with less pressure on arteries blood pressure may be slightly reduced
