  1. Difficult to answer. But if the child has a physical reaction to any food I would imagine it could create a behavior problem. I would say then a Dr. would be consulted and the parent just would not give that child that food source.

  2. :-)  Studies are showing that there are more connections between what the children ingest and their behavior.  Generally I would say no...have you had your child tested for this allergy?  If a child is having an allergic reaction, even if it isn't a "noticeable" reaction, it tends to make them a bit more challenging.  Have you tried to rule that thought out?  Take dairy out of the diet completely and see if there is a change in behavior.  Then slowly add it back into the diet and observe and document.  Maybe you should talk with your child's pediatrician.  Good luck.

  3. When i was younger whenever i drank milk, corn, chocolate etc. i would get "angry" and not a very happy child. for the longest time my mom had me on a diet of non of that stuff. i finally got allergy tested at 12 years old and found out that in fact iwas allergic to dust, dogs, cats, dander, etc. badly and it was making me sensitive to these foods and in return making my attitude and behavior less desireable, so get your child allergy checked and start weeding out things. they may be lactose sensitive so it makes them not feel good and angry.

  4. It's a complicated question. It's tough to answer questions like this because a simple answer requires us to speak almost in absolutes. The truth is that there may be a host of chemical influences on behavior for all people, not just children. But environment is definitely a strong influence as well. It is easy in our society, where medical science feels it has to provide an answer for every question, to try to chalk behavioral problems up to some concrete external factor that can easily be eliminated or altered through excessive chemistry. I think it would definitely be a different story if both parents were actively involved in the life of each child, though it's not enough to just be "actively involved". Meddling and emotional suffocation are forms of active involvement as well. Parents need to be loving and nurturing while giving their children room to develop and learn from their own experiences. Children also need direction and discipline without authoritarian dictatorship. It's a difficult balancing act, and one that I think many parents are failing at, which points out another crucial quality a good parent needs: the ability to accept responsibility and admit to himself that he is wrong when appropriate. I don't think many parents nowadays can do that, so they look to the child's diet, possible chemical imbalances and clinical conditions as an explanation of their behavior...

  5. denial of parenting.. we all drunk milk and ate dairy growing up and WE didn't have behavioral problems because WE knew what would happen.  There is no punishment for children anymore and parents do not take any responsibility.

  6. Neither. Behavioral problems can be caused by a number of things, mainly a lack of attention as proved by experiements in the UK where half the chuldren in a slection of primary school classes were given a placebo pill, and their teachers were told that those students showed signs of potential for very high IQ. The reslut was that the teachers gave more of their time to the apparently gifted children, and the ones with behavioral problems were 'cured'. Children start acting differently if they are not getting any attention, which is fair enough. Dairy products are one food group, and like all food groups, you really should include all of them in your diet, if we are to believe that they cause behavioral problems we should also believe that sea food gives us cancer, which just isn't true. Milk and cheese has been eaten at least aslong as human activity has been recorded and there have been generations of children who were never labelled as having behavioral problems. ADD, OCD and any other disorder you can think of has only been talked about in the last 10-30 years, despite the fact there hasn't been any evidence to back up the hypothesis that such disorders are against human nature. In  my opinion, ADD does not exist; some people just don't concentrate as much. If not paying attention can be classed as a disorder, so can being ignorant, being ugly, good looking, loud, having a higher pitched voice, so called scientists are just attaching labels to everything in the hope that they will become well known in the scientific ring.

  7. depends on the child - if they are lactose intolerant and are given milk, they are going to get a stomach ache and not feel their best and they could act up!   Listen to the parents but make your own decisions. It all depends on the individual situation.

  8. Lactose intolerance is a real medical condition which causes persons who drink milk or eat dairy products to become very ill. Dairy products can cause migraine headaches, stomach and intestinal pain and pressure, nausea and you get the picture. For some children, as well as adults, this is a very painful reaction. It's hard to be a student when you feel like your gut is doing backflips....so....

Parental denial isn't at work here, enzymes are....Start listening to the parents, ...their children should drink water, soy milk, or rice milk, or juice instead.
