I'm thirteen and i decided to take dance in school and i LOVEEE it! But I see all the girls hu have been dancing all their lives and are in advanced dance and they are all below average short, except for this one girl hu is a ballet dancer and is super tall. Also, all the professional dancers and my teacher are not tall. I'm 5'6" and i really want to continue dance since i love it so much, but will it make me not grow as much as i should?

i was also thinking that maybe it you start dancing intensively at a young age, will that stunt your growth????

  1. Dancing will NOT stunt your growth. I've been dancing since I was five and I'm fourteen now. I am about 5' 7" and still growing! There are many girls in my studio that are my height and taller that are older than me. There are just a lot of short girls in the world! KEEP DANCING! It's good for you and it's so much fun!

  2. Yes Fred Astaire and Ginger Rodgers were dwarves, and that is why they were such good dancers.  They had to design a minature set just to film "The g*y Divorcee" and other films.

I don't think so.  Maybe tall people aren't as coordinated.   All it is, is exercise.  That doesn't have an effect on your growth.

  3. umm, no, it wont. One of the most amazing dancers I know is almost 6 feet tall!

  4. No, it doesn't stunt your growth.  I work with professional dancers.  I am average height, they are usually taller.  It is possible they haven't hit their growth spurt yet.  Check out some of the biographies or information on the Rockettes (extremely tall young women) or the various professional ballet companies such as the Joffrey, Dance Theatre of Harlem, American Ballet Co., etc.

  5. HAHA!

    OF COURSE NOT!

  6. no

  7. nope... i've been dancing everyday for the past 8/9 years and i'm 5'10"!
