  1. yea

  2. Any type of dish detergent is going to dry the skin (don't even try the "5 or 10 minute" thing) But if it gets into the eyes the dog will buck and bolt in pain. Why do you want to do that to your dog? That is an example of not being prepared financially to care for your dog Properly.

  3. ANY soap will kill fleas.  However, it will only kill the fleas that are actually ON the dog at the time of the bath and 90% of the flea population actually lives in the environment (your house and yard) so as soon as the dog gets out of the tub they will simply jump back on board.  Dawn should really only be used if your dog absolutely needs a bath and you don't have anything else or if you are trying to get fleas off of puppies that are too young for flea control products.  If you are having a problem with fleas, your best bet is to get frontline or advantage and apply it to your dog's skin (be sure to part the fur and get the product directly down to the skin).  If you are having a bad flea problem then treating the house and yard is also highly advised.

  4. Yes absolutely, use the ORIGINAL green one and let it sit on your dogs coat 5-10 minutes. Rinse well and watch out for eyes!!

  5. No it definately does not. I am a Vet Tech and every day at work we have people come in with the same problems and they have all tried home remedies but none of it works. Dishsoap is likely to dry your dogs skin out and not kill the fleas. And honestly, we don't recommend using flea shampoos either. The shampoos might kill the fleas for a minute, but it never kills them all, and they reproduce and come right back. The best things to use are Spot-On treatments or Pills that come from veterinary offices. The best ones we carry are Comfortis (a pill) and ProMeris (a topical spot-on). Frontline Plus also does pretty well. Another smart tip is to treat all carpeted areas with a good area treatment (also from a vet office) and mop all hard floors with a strong solution such as bleach and water. If you treat the animal without treating the environment, it gives the fleas a chance to breed in the carpet and wait to jump back on the dog (or on you). But if you treat both the animal and the area at the same time, it's sure to go away! Hope this helps! =)

  6. I have heard that Dawn does, but it is just a one time deal.  Use Frontline for regular prevention.

  7. No and it will dry out your dog's skin, buy a flea shampoo or a topical flea treatment.

  8. It doesn't kill them.

Fleas create a grease-bubble when they get wet, and many dishwashing liquids have a grease-cutter that destroys grease on contact.

BUT, if you buy normal flea shampoo and pre-wash the dog DRY, it will have the same effect. Bathing a dog in dawn liquid or any other dish liquid will dry out the skin and cause irritation.

  9. I've never heard of that but it doesn't sound like a good idea, so I wouldn't try it, I'd just get frontline or something.
