Could you survive if needed to on dead skin and scabs?

  1. Apparently, since dust mites feed on it.

    I don't think it would work very well for a human though.  You're just not going to get enough volume.  If you had, like, a dead body you could get a large amount of skin off of, it's better than eating nothing.  But then, if you have a dead body you're going to eat, there's better things to pick from than the skin.

    People have boiled rawhide leather products and eaten them in extreme survival situations.

    It wouldn't work indefinitely, but it might buy you a day or two.


  2. Survive?  No.

    Skin does have protein but it is still very low calorie and contains almost no vitamins.
