I know that landlines stay powered during power outages, so I was wondering if dial-up would since it goes over landlines. I am going to India on vacation and I was thinking that buying a bigger battery + having dial-up would allow me to do something during those several hour blackouts (namely reading blogs).

  1. yep.  As long as you are on a laptop, then yes, you can connect to the dial up during a power outage.  However, laptop modems use alot of electricity and dial up is so slow, that you wont be able to do much surfing before your battery dies.

  2. as long as you can power up the computer and modem!! telco's are battery powered.

  3. ya as long as you r on a labtop
