Does diet soda make you fat?

i know that it may give people this thought that they can consume more food,

but that doesn't happen with me. i still eat pretty darn healthy.

just drinking diet soda alone though, not necessarily eating more to 'balance it out', can that by itself make you lose weight?

like if someone drank soda, didn't change their already healthy diet besides going to diet, would they still be *as* fat? i try to drink alot of water too, i just maybe have one a day if even that and i was curious.

  1. Actually, if you fall for it and drink excessively, yes you can. Just because it's diet doesn't mean there's no limit on how much you should drink. Drinking any kind of soda daily is unhealthy. You should vary your drinks: water, soda (once in a while), juice, lemonade

I drink a lot of Agua Fresca. That's in Spanish, if you didn't know. It's just like juice made out of things like strawberries, mango, carrots, etc.

    I hope this helped.

  2. Nope. Diet soda has no calories! Therefore you can't gain weight. :)

  3. love and being happy within is the key to good health and mind, You are naturally a beauty with no body to equate you,so be yourself and enjoy food the way you like it.

  4. There is a lot of controversy regarding diet sodas, because apparently they do make you fat.

  5. dont be dumb..dont drink "diet soda"..drink water..

  6. I find that when I drink alot of it it does make me fat. Not sure

why but I makes me eat more.

There was also a study that said it does mess your digestion

    system and block sugars.

I bet a lemon aid is better for you than diet drinks

  7. Diet soda won't harm you if you have it now and then, but it is a processed drink laden with various chemicals.  Water should be the main beverage for humans.

Since water is tasteless and dull, a better option for an alternative beverage is 100% fruit juice, which is considerably healthier than diet soda.

Though diet soda has 0 calories, losing and gaining fat has more to do with the quality of the food, than calories gained and calories lost.

EDIT: You can't really balance it, the best thing you can do is stop drinking more diet soda and consume more healthily for the day, and try to limit diet soda intake even more from now on.

    Best of luck!

  8. Not drinking the soda. But the Aspartame in the diet soda will make you crave carbohydrates. Carbohydrates in excess will lead to weight gain becasue you are not burning them off.

  9. Caffeine (don't know or care if its spelled right) messes with most people's blood sugar levels and so affects metabolism which affects weight loss/gain and distribution.  One a day or less is probably not going to have adverse affects.  Cardio is the best way to balance blood sugar levels aside from diet.  So, diet and cardio go a long, long way.  If you are as healthy as you say...have a diet coke a few times a week if that's all the caffeine you ingest.
