Does disability pay you for the entire time you are off work, even with the elimination period?

I have surgery in January. I had a 30 day elimination period on one insurance policy and a 14 day elimination period on the other. My job and doctor are still filling out my paper work. Will I get paid for January and this month and so forth, or do they pay you from the time you get in your paperwork?

  1. Refer to your contract.  The elimination period is the amount of risk you accept.  The benefit period is the maximum amount of time you could receive benefits.


  2. Check with your employer and your insurance agent....
