Does doxycycline help fights bacteria that cause acne and dermatitis?

This is a very commonly prescribed oral medication for acne, especially when someone has pustular acne (lesions filled with pus).

doxycycline is used by primary care doctors, OB/GYNS, urologists, to name a few.  because this drug is prescribed for many disease states, doxycycline is resistant to about 1/3 of the bacteria that causes acne (P. acnes.)  if your doctor is prescribing a product to reduce your acne, he/she might use minocycline which works on 99+% of the P.acnes bacteria.
