Does drinking 2 liters of water a day help you lose weight ?

On another question I asked, someone said that drinking 2 liters of water a day will help me lose weight, but I won't see results for about 2 weeks, is that true

  1. It can help since it fills your stomach. There has been scientific research on it and they found it did help.

    About 5-6  cups of water is 2 litres.

    You should probably have more than that though if you wanted to try to lose weight.


  2. 12-13 mugs for 2 liters...Yes, I drink 2 liters of water everyday( chocolate drink n I don't eat) and I lose weight..I think u should also focus on the food intake, maybe that keeps u constant...Just don't drink too much water, sometimes drinking too much will increase someone's weight..

  3. there's studies that say that drinking water before meals fills the stomach and makes you eat less. So it could potentially help. 2L isn't that much water though. Switching from sugary drinks to water will certainly help

  4. Its not a water diet but it will keep you fuller so you'll eat less. Its about the same amount as a 2 litre bottle of soda.

  5. 2 liters is about 8 cups. The more you drink water and the more your body gets used to it, the more it will flush it out. So, yes it is a good way to lose weight. You'll lose water weight that your body holds onto, and it helps your metabolism. Drink away! :)  

  6. I've heard that drinking cold water burns calories. The logic is that your body has to heat the water before it can process it and that takes energy. You can lose at least 10 calories by drinking a gallon of water.

It really depends on the context of the question, but I would say Yes, because our bodies are composed mainly from water.  Water is essential for the very function of our nervous, skeletal, circulatory, digestive, and even respiratory systems.  It provides lubrication for our cells and regulates our body temperatures.  Let's say you haven't drank any water all day and you began to work out.  You would fatigue within minutes of starting your work out and would therefore have to stop, thus keeping you from working out and losing weight.

    so if 4 cups = 1 litter that means

    8 cups = 2 litters  

  9. If the only think you alter in your diet is drinking 2 liters of water, you probably won't se any effects. Exercise, less sugar and carbs is also necessary if you want to loose weight. If you replace juices, sodas and the likes with the water it will of course help:) But a slimmer body is not necessarily  a more healthy body, because you still need to get in better shape.
