I heard that coffee can cause either calcium or vitamin D to become depleted over time, and thus contributes to weakening of the bones. Is this truth?

  1. Yes its true.  Any caffeinated beverage or chocolate does the same thing.

Its the caffeine, it decreases the absorption of calcium, Vitamin D is needed to help calcium absorb as well that's why milk companies put it in milk.  But if you live in the South don't worry about getting vitamin D as the sun's rays does the same thing by providing Vitamin D.

  2. That sounds like it is true, try to limit coffee, if your drinking it everyday then you probably have some type of problem.

Too much of a good thing is a bad thing.

  3. Osteoporosis is a degenerative bone disease, which can lead to an increased likelihood of bone fracture, primarily due to calcium depletion. Osteoporosis is known as a ’multi-factorial’ condition, this means that no single factor alone, such as coffee drinking, would cause this condition. The condition arises as a result of several lifestyle factors. So if your going to drink coffee check out some of the flavored coffees.
