  1. Citrus fruits such as lemons, limes and oranges are all rich in Vitamin C.

Vitamin C is a powerfull antioxidant ~ antioxidants are the little soldiers that go in there and give up their lives for the mutated cells (free radicals) to reform and make them healthy and vital again ~ and has a myriad of other benefits.

Vitamin C does help lower blood pressure,  plays a role as a blood thinner, helps with stress, lowers incidence of blood clots in veins, acts as a natural laxative, increases the absorption of iron, extends life by enabling protein cells to hold together, aides in the treatment and prevention of the common cold, helps in decreasing blood cholesterol, offers protection against many forms of cancer, helps to heal wounds, burns and bleeding gums, increases effectiveness of drugs used to treat urinary tract infections and accelerates healing after surgery .......... just to name a few ♥

You would need to ensure that you use freshly squeezed lemon juice mixed with water (organic lemons preferably if you can afford it) and to ensure also that you rinse your mouth out with water thoroughly afterwards to protect the enamel on your pearly white teeth.

High blood pressure can be a side affect of long standing dehydration ...... When you are getting dehydrated your body goes into preservation mode and hangs onto the little bit of water it does have, hence symptoms such as puffy bags under your eyes actually puffiness anywhere in the body is actually a sign of dehydration.

If you are dehydrated, your blood becomes thicker and your body has to work much too hard to cause it to circulate .......... Expecting your digestive system to digest food and transport essential vitamins and nutrients with no water in your system is an extremely huge ask ............ Water is imperative to life. Without water your body will have a terrible time breathing, digesting food, transporting nutrients, lubricating your joint sockets etc.etc.etc.etc......... nothing substitutes for water. your body needs at least 2 - 3 litres of water daily to function efficiently Geez, we need at least 2 litres daily just to maintain aspiration (to breathe)!! so drink up buddy ♥

    hope this helps

  2. I'm not sure about lemon water. I think you need to gather an undersantding of how blood pressure works, let me elaborate:

    ======================================...

    How Blood Pressure Works

Think of your heart as a pump and your arteries as pipes. The ateries are surrounded by muscle cells that can contrict or relax them, and may also become narrower due to inflammation {COX-2 Inflammatory response, which can be inhibited with Reservatrol supplementation, 200mg per day}and 'furring up'. Tense arterial muscles or furred-up arteries are the two main causes of hypertension {high blood pressure}.

So what is it that makes arterial muscle cells tense? It's all to do with the balance of electrically charged mineral ions, both inside and outside the cell. There are two pairs of minerals that move between a cell's interior and exterior: a sodium & potassium pairing, and a calcium and magnesium pairing. The more sodium inside your cells and the less potassium, the higher the tension, which raises your overal blood pressure. Similarly, the more calcium inside your cells and the less magnesium, the higher your blood pressure.

You can control your blood pressure either by decreasing sodium {that is, eating less salt, and processed foods} and increasing potassium {such as through eating more vegetables/fruit}, or by boosting your intake of magnesium{by supplementation} or stopping calcium from getting into cells; the last option is what calcium-channel blocker drugs do.

There's one other critical factor in this pump/pimp system: the amount of liquid or blood in the system. If the amount of blood goes down, so does your blood pressure. The organ responsible for controlling the amount of blood, is the kidneys. By extracting water, and other substances including mineral, from your blood, the kidneys control blood pressure, indirectly. If you force the kidneys to work harder -which is what diuretics do - your blood pressure comes down. But you lose more valuable minerals such as magnesium, {important for nerve health} and potassium.

You'd think that drinking more water would raise blood pressure, but the reverse is true. Normally the kidneys have no problem removing excess water. But when there's a lack of water, the body does everything it can to reserve it for your body cells. Sodium levels inside cells increase, because sodium can hold water inside cells, and makes the water potentional greater.

Consequently, your blood pressure goes up. Also, tiny blood vessels are shut {by spincture valves} down to so conserve more fluid. As a result, blood volume goes up, further raising blood pressure, and compounding the problem. That is why it's so important to drink atleat half your body weight of water, in ounces per day.

So: water, potassium and magnesium rich foods lower blood pressure. And sodium raises it. You also need the correct blance of calcium to magnesium, most people have too much of the former, and not enough of the latter.

Why You might not have high blood pressure

You should not rely on just one measure taken at your doctor's surgery/clinic. According to a study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, '21% of the patients diagnosed as having borderline hypertension in the clinic were found to have normal blood pressure on ambulatory [while walking about] monitoring'. This is known as 'white coat high blood pressure', because anything that makes you nervous - having your blood pressure taken by a doctor in a white coat, for instance - temporarily pushes the pressure up, {or if your in a hurry to get o work, or worrying about something}. Insist that your blood pressure in measured a few times over a 24 hour period to get a much more accurate diagnosis.

    Hope this helps

  4. Hi dear,

I graduated with a degree in nutrition at University of Alberta. Reducing blood pressure and heart diease preventions are my favorite topics. I have read so many research articles regarding this topic. My summary is fish oil,  multi vitamins and mineral supplements are the best choice. regarding whether lemon water lowers high blood pressure or not. The answer is it might be a little bit. But not as significant as fish oil and multivitamin supplements. There have been so many research and clinical trails conducted about the heart disease prevention.
