Does drinking more water really help with weight loss?

Hi everyone, this is my first post so thanks for your responses!

I'm a 21 year old male, 6 ft 3" tall and about 17 stone in weight. My body tone is quite fat & flabby, and im ashamed to admit i have 'moobs' which i'm really self-conscious of. I read on a number of internet pages, that drinking water can help lose weight dramatically by basically preventing the body to 'store' more water, by giving it a greater supply oh 'H20-yeah'. Iv read that this helps burn calories, I have a fairly physical engineering job and eat quite healthily but do not really exercise other than that (at the moment). Could increasing the amount of water I drink in a day change my life??

  1. this is just one reason why water will help you lose weight. When well hydrated you feel more able (at least it does for me). When you feel more able you can go work out, go for a walk, go swimming, play a game of frisbee. Whatever. As for the self-consciousness - one thing i've come to realize is that people generally aren't that shallow. Everyone IS different and people seem to be pretty accepting. Good luck with the weight loss

  2. I think the major point of that argument is that by drinking more water your stomach will feel like it is full, thus making a craving for food less. Also, when you do not satisfy your thirst with water but with food your brain is unable to tell if you are hungry or thirsty, so you should drink water when you feel hungry anyways. I have a hard time believing you eat healthy and are overweight, cut back on the amount that you eat by one thing a week, like that candy bar that is hard to resist (or whatever). You should drink water all the time (half your body weight (in pounds) in ounces, so 70 ounces for 140 pounds). Good Luck!

  3. Abs exercises do NOT burn fat away from your abs! This can only be accomplished through a full body training routine that maximizes both your metabolism and your hormonal response to your workouts. This is the main secret revealed in the'Truth about Six Pack Abs Program'.

In no time, you will be eating smarter and looking leaner. 'The Truth about Six Pack Abs' eBook will show you how to get lean and stay lean for life. This eBook is the complete solution for life-long results.

  4. If you are drinking the natural amount, then your are fine. If you go over, I don't think it will help.

But if you are switching from soda, then drinking water instead will certainly help.

  5. Drinking alot of water can prevent absorption of calories, true, but

also can prevent other essential nutrients and vitamins which can lead to deficiencies and illness. Not the most healthy weight loss strategy. Comes down to a simple formula, calories in vs calories burned

  6. To lose weight by drinking water...take your weight, divide by 1/2 & that's how many ounces of water you should drink/day.

However, I don't think it will change your life.

I think you will need to exercise...get a personal trainer for a consultation for exercises you can do.

Start walking 1/2 hour 3X/week & increase.  Try sports you might like:  Racquetball, basketball, tennis, stretching, pilates, etc.

    Good luck

  7. It would make you pee more. But drinking alot of water will increase your weight. Its called water weight. some Athletes wont drink before a big event because it will increase there weight.

Ignore that. Just go for a 45min walk 3 times a week and you'll feel the difference. No take aways and everything in moderation. Eat breakfast to get your metabolism going and you will feel better. BUt stick to it mate.

  8. ya but no it all depends
