Question:

Does drinking water with flavoring or sugar in it take away from the amount of water you consume?

I'm asking this because I think when you have a solution of let's say 50 oz made of water and sugar then you aren't actually drinking 50 oz of water because the amount of sugar is also occupying that volume. I would like to make sure I'm drinking the appropriate amount of water a day but I always drink water with flavoring in it. so i need to know how much volume flavoring or sugar would take up in 50 oz of water if it is 26g of sugar and how much sugary water should I then drink a day to maintain a healthy amount of water consumption.

  1. The amount of liquids you drink a day, not just the water, all count to your daily fluid intake.  All sodas, tea, coffee, flavored water, any drink is consider daily fluid intake.  Hey, try sparkling water. Not the flavored, but just plain sparkling water.  I love it.  It is such a refreshing feeling.  You can buy Perrier, but is sort of pricy, but there are lots of other kinds.  Some stores don't carry it.  (our walmarts around here don't) But Publix, Winn Dixie, and many others do carry it.

  2. Do you have diabetes? Cuz that's the section you put this in.

I'm not sure how much sugary content would be in a 50 oz water. But you could try putting those little crystal lite packets in your bottle of water.. so that way you know exactly how much actual water you're consuming.

  3. As long as the sugar percentage is low, it doesn't matter. The amount of water displaced by the sugar is a non-issue. However bear in mind, if there is a higher glucose percentage in your water, you'll sap your overall water drinking because of digestion time. As little as a 10 percent sucrose solution will slow digestion by as much as 50 percent.

  4. good question,, I'm afraid though i don't have the answer

  5. Whoa there, I can't convert between metric and standard.

Here's the equation: 50oz of water + 26mL = how much water you should drink. Convert 50oz to mL, add them up, then convert back to ounces.

However, it shouldn't be more than 1 or 2oz.
