Does dropping a sportbike bend the frame?

It can!  Of course it depends on how hard you drop it.  I have heard of Ducatis getting their frames bent in relatively minor spills, because of the 'trellis' design of the frame is meant to be really light at the cost of strength.

Modern sportbikes are very serious machines, very high tech, very single-purpose.  They are wonderful machines for the purpose they are designed for, but they definitely have their disadvantages.  Another one is the cost of the plastic body panels if you ever have even a minor drop.
