  1. If you just buy the t.v. you won't get the channels, you have to have a company to get the channels like comcast.

  2. nothing is free my friend

  3. no

  4. No. You might get a few more channels (ie 2 channel 4's, 3 channel 34, etc). I bought a converter and it worked worse, with less channels, so I returned the converter box. Guess the TV will go in the trash in Feb 2009 if I lose the signals.

  5. You will not have free cable. The converter will enable you to pick up a digital signal from the local channel (plus of few extra).

  6. Why would they give it away when they can sell it?

  7. You will just get the same channels you are getting now.  If you want cable channels you will have to subscribe to your local cable provider.

  8. Yeah youre right your only gonna get your local HD channels.

  9. No.  If you want cable, you still have to buy the cable service.

Local channels will be forced to HD next year though;  so you would be getting standard broadcast service in high definition then (and some shows are already in HD).

  10. No weenie

  11. duhh no

  12. No you have to pay for cable

  13. No,   it refers to the amount of definition or clarity the screen provides and gets yuou nothing but a better picture....as long as the feed it is getting is of better quality..eg.  vhs still don't come in higher definition on a HDtv but they are brighter

  14. Since you are using your TV with an antenna, starting in Feb,2009, the government is taking away the analog signal. You will have to get a converter box to get digital signals. I believe you can only get the digital signals, via the cable or dish antenna. you can buy the converter box with a $40 rebate from the government, then see if you can get TV without the cable or dish. It's worth a try. Your old set will not give you HDTV.

To get GREAT HDTV, you will need a HDTV set and a hd signal from cable or dish. Not just a digital signal, but a HDTV signal. Good Luck!
