Does each computer have to pay for internet, or is the router what you pay for and computers connect to that?

This is gonna sound kinda long winded, but...

My laptop is connected to my router wirelessly and I am paying for Tiscali broadband (internet, and phone). Will I have to pay again to connect a desktop to the same router? IE: Does each computer need its own ISP, or can I connect to the router, because the router is what is payed for the ISP?

Sorry if it made no sense.

  1. Everyone who answered thus far is correct. Here are a couple links to better explain the answer from a techie's point of view.

  2. No you need not pay separately for each computer. As far as i can understand Tascali give you a Wifi ADSL modem which dials and connects to your internet.

You can share the internet connection over wifi with any number of computers (desktops/laptops/pda phones)

  3. you have to pay for your isp which is tiscali broadband. the router is just a device that you can use to hook up more than one computer to that same network(you dont have to pay monthly for that). hope that answered your question

  4. You pay for one ISP (Internet Service Provider) Thats All!! If you decide to hook up a router to your modem so you can run multiple computers (which almost everyone does) thats up to you.
