Does eating lots of jello and gummibears make your fingernails grow faster? And would that be a bad thing?

I heard a mother, who was cutting her childs fingernails, say: "We should cut back on Jello. They grow so fast."

Its the gelatin that makes them stronger.  I buy gelatin capsules at Wal-Mart.  It does cut down on breakage, but I don't notice it does anything to make them grow faster.
