Does enyone have info on degus

Question

i have just brought 2 and would like to know more about them , does anyone have eny info on them ?

we used to have 2, but we had to rehome them to someone who could offer them the room they need,we were sold them and told they would happily live in a 3ft tank, wrong, they need a huge enclosure or they become bored and start to attack each other, ours started sitting and eating each others tails!!! they are nice creatures to own, though their claws can be very sharp, mine never bit, and loved to sit on our shoulders as we walked around the house or sat watching tv. people seem to think they are just like over sized gerbils, but they are more like chipmonks with how they like to live. and always remember they need a nice dust bath in their cage. also dont feed them any fruit or veg as they are prone to diabeties. good luck with your new pets.
