  1. Yes. Wenever u log in r work in net u ll ve to make use of this ip address. We mostly fail to notice it while working.

  2. Not if your on a wireless laptop connecting to alot of wireless internet

  3. Technically YES! Each computer that has a LAN PORT (either built-in or expansion). Each LAN has its OWN and UNIQUE Physical Address. The Physical Address assigned the default IP Address of your computer. However, If you assigned an IP Address to a computer, the default address will no longer be in use..

Check-out the Physical address of your computer by typing CMD in RUN command then type IPCONFIG /ALL..

    :D

  4. sure does

  5. Yes

  6. yes, its how computers know where to send a file to. like a zip code

  7. Yes because ip address is unique .

  8. No, although every computer connected directly to a given network has a different ip address.

Computers on different networks (e.g. the LANs of two different companies) can have the same ip address.

Computers on one network (e.g. my LAN at the office) which connect to the Internet via a router will appear to share an ip address as far as the Internet is concerned (the router will have an ip address on the Internet (and another on the LAN) and all requests from any computer on the LAN to machines on the Internet will be relayed by the router and thus have the ip address of the router).

  9. Yes, but it is not permament. Your IP address might be the IP address of someone else's tomorrow. The only thing that is permanent when it comes to computers is the MAC address.

You can get that information through CMD.EXE

then you can type, ipconfig /all

  10. yes that's true. It's basically a personal identity of the computer

  11. No,, because i have to pc with the same ip address.. But they are not connected to network..

  12. Yes, on the public Internet.

But you can have a private network with other addresses.

I have a router to connect to the Internet and then 3 PCs. The router has a unique public IP address on the broadband side but it issues private IP address to my PCs using DHCP. So my PCs are 192.168.1.2 and 192.168.1.3 and 192.168.1.4

Most other private networks use the same or similar IP addresses.
