This might sound like an insulting question, but I ask only out of ignorance.

I'm traveling to Chile this July and I want to minimize the bulk in my suitcase by putting my big jackets into plastic bags and sucking the extra air out with a vacuum. The thing is, I don't know if they have vacuums in Chile, so I don't know if I'll be able to repeat this process when it's time to come back home.

Does every house in Chile have a vacuum?

  1. No, but neither does "every household" in any other country.

  2. As a Chilean is kinda an insulting question, but since u know nothing about Chile it will be the best way to know more. Well, yes we have vacuums, and also Home depot like stores were u you'll find those same bags. We also have laptops, wifi spots, ipods and anything you will find in any USA home.

    Best Regards.

  3. Are you staying in a house or an hotel? Because every hotel does have a vacuum and MOST of the houses as well. I guess the only people without a vacuum will be people who live in rural or poor areas and have no electricity. If you're staying in an hotel, contact them via email and ask about this. If you're staying in a house, aske them too and you'll avoid any hassle. I don't think the question is insulting to chileans, I guess it just proves that you're ignorant in that matter.
