What about the low-dose ones? Are you less likely to get bad effects or at least not as bad? i was given rx for mircette (kariva- generic). I'm afraid I'll get nasty effects..Is it possible to not even get any? thanks for any input--it's really appreciated. THX

  1. Some women don't have any side effects. I am one of the rare women that can't take the pill. I really wanted to be able to take it. I had terrible headaches, water retention, weight gain, nausea, and vomiting. You will have to try it to see. I tried 10 or 15 different kind. All low dose before I gave up. My gynecologist told me that there was not one out there that I could take. My sister and quite a few of my friends can take them without any problems.

  2. None of the side effects are guarenteed, and some women say they don't have any problems with birth control pills.

All are different, so if one gives you problems, you can ask your doctor to try a different one.

Part of it is also psychological... if you've been told the pill you have can cause mood swings, the next time you're in a bad mood you can blame the hormones.

  3. Hey girl

Everyone is different. Some people may get lots of side effects while others will get none at all! You have to find the right pill for you. When i was on the pill my doctor put me on one becuase i had a hormonal imbalance, it didnt give me any side effects except weird cramping during the first day or two of my period. It sucked big time, but it wasnt enough for me to want to go off it.

Try the pill you were given and see how it goes.

    Good luck!

  4. That really all depends on your body chemistry. The birth control pills that I take have no affect on me whatsoever. The only affect that it has had on me is that it has improved my life by 110%. Again, depending on your body chemistry sometimes the pill will work, sometimes the doses are not strong enough(spotting), sometimes the side effects are strong, sometimes they are not, and sometimes there are no side effects at all. If this pill doesn't work for you don't despair, there are others out there. Hope this helps and have a happy period.  :)

  5. Well, my ex-girlfriend took some and it seemed to HELP with her period. On the bad side, it made her feel full/fat all the time and a little bigger. Overall, it's not a big deal...take it if you want it.

  6. my wife had  bad side affects with the pill and she changed from the generic to the expensive kind and all the side effect went away..at first she didn't believe it was the generic brand that was causing it so she changed back to them and sure enough she got the side-effects again...its the brand believe it

    headaches

    side pains

    dizziness

    depression

  7. No-one knows if they're going to get side-effects until they happen. You just have to know the possible side effects of the pill you take and be aware of them for the first 6 months of taking it. I was on it for three months before I got a clot in my leg, so if there are side effects I'd say that you'd know about them soon after starting it.

If you're concerned speak to your doctor. Your best option may be to go on the half-pill. Also, if it's contraception your after, the Implanon or Depo-Provera injections may be less of a risk.
