  1. Absolutely not!  Everyone in college does not take calculus!  It depends on your major.

  2. Depends entirely on the college and the major.

As a music major I was only required to take two semesters of "math for liberal arts majors" which I assure you included absolutely no calculus and very little algebra.

As a performing arts major in another program, I was required to take one math course (3 hours) at the level of algebra or higher.  That's all.

When I was studying at one college as an undeclared major, we could use computer science (programming) courses in place of math.

It all depends on the major and the particular college.

  3. Pretty sure its almost mandatory. Every degree at the college I go to requires calculus or an equivalent

  4. It depends on the university, but normally only some majors have to take it.  At my university, for example, history and music majors (among others) only had to take college algebra.  Business majors had business calc, and regular calculus was only required for science and engineering majors.

  5. It depends on the major - you will have to have at least two courses of math (usually algebra) but it also depends on the college you attend.

  6. NO. It depends on the major. I was required to take up through PreCal, but not Calculus.

  7. No, liberal arts majors generally don't have to take it.  If you are a science or math major you have to, and I think some colleges require computer majors to take it as well.  I'm an English major so the highest math I took was Statistics, and I have my math requirement done.
