Question:

Does everyone who has pcos need metformin to conceive

Ok... I know that sounds a lil silly, but when I read through archives of answers it seems like majority of PCOSers got pregnant on Metformin AND Clomid. My doctor is going to start me on Clomid in a couple weeks. I don't have insulin resistance so would I end up needing Metformin to conceive eventually? Or could Clomid work all by itself? Success stories of people who got pregnant on clomid alone would be wonderful to hear. :o) Thank you all and Baby Dust to all those TTC!!

  1. yes, many get pregnant just with Clomid :) your doc will prescribe Metformin if the clomid along doens't work....you can ask a fertility specialist online for free for advice and find other ladies who got pregnant on clomid, try fertilityties.com

    good luck!

  2. I have PCOS and never took Metformin. My first pregnancy I got lucky on the second cycle of Clomid. #2 took six cycles of Clomid and two cycles of Gonal-f with IUI.

  3. No, not everyone who has PCOS needs it. If you are not insulin resistant then you wouldn't benefit from it. Two of my best friends both have PCOS (as do I) and they both conceived without Met, only Clomid.

    Good luck.
